Analysis and Modelling for Sustainable Manufacturing and Logistics

Carisma RCT srl in collaboration with NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology,Trondheim, Norway) and Emerald Group Publishing (Bingley, U.K.) would like to invite applications for the first International Doctoral Course on Analysis and Modelling for Sustainable Manufacturing and Logistics. 

The Course, valid for 7.5 ECTS credits1, offers a deep learning experience to Doctoral Students and Researchers from across the globe and represents a valuable opportunity to network with participants from other countries and institutions, gather new insights on one’s research project, exchange ideas and knowledge in an international setting and work towards a scientific article that will be considered for inclusion in a Special Issue of the Journal of Global Operations and Strategic Sourcing on Sustainable Global Operations.

 

Attendance is limited to 15 participants.

Applications will be evaluated by the organising committee on a first come first served basis and registration will close upon selecting the 15th participant.

 

This course aims to enhance participants' knowledge and understanding of the state-of-the-art within sustainable manufacturing and logistics. Students taking part to this course will improve their ability to both analyse and model sustainable manufacturing and logistics processes. Sustainable operations can be defined as operations designed to purposely support sustainable development and meet an organisation’s objectives with regards to the social, economic and environmental impacts of those operations. The course will consider how sustainability can be included in strategic, tactical and operational design with the aim of achieving more efficient and effective resource utilisation across the entire supply chain.

OBJECTIVES

Within such disciplinary scope, the course has been designed to achieve three primary objectives:

1) To offer a series of insightful lectures from senior academics in the field

2) To gain expert academic feedback on the students’ research

3) To support students produce a manuscript of publishable quality

FACULTY

Lectures and facilitation will be coordinated by Dr. Marco Busi (CEO of Carisma RCT, Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Global Operations and Strategic Sourcing), Dr. Anita Romsdal (researcher, NTNU) and Prof. Jan Ola Strandhagen (NTNU) together with a group of senior academics from various universities and research organisations.

JOURNAL OF GLOBAL OPERATIONS AND STRATEGIC SOURCING - SPECIAL ISSUE ON SUSTAINABLE GLOBAL OPERATIONS

All the exam papers submitted as part of this course will be considered for inclusion in a special issue on Sustainable Global Operations of the Journal of Global Operations and Strategic Sourcing (JGOSS). The editorial scope of the special issue on Sustainable Global Operations will mirror that of the course presented here and will be edited by Dr. Anita Romsdal (researcher, NTNU), prof. Jan Ola Strandhagen (NTNU).

APPLICATIONS

The course is limited to 15 participants. Interested parties should apply for participation via email or FOLLOWING THIS LINK

Applications should include:

• A 2-page proposal for a scientific paper. Where possible, papers should include at least a structured abstract.
• The student’s list of publications
• A brief description of current research, research focus and objectives.
• A brief statement of reasons for participating and own expectations
• Registration preferences (i.e. whether the student want to enrol with NTNU for examination, quality assessment and
award of 7.5 ECTS)

TRAVEL

Participants are responsible for organising and funding their own travel to/from San Marino. Booking assistance
is available if necessary.
