SFI Norman (, is an eight-year research programme with the vision to develop new and multidisciplinary research on next-generation manufacturing and create theories, methods, models and management tools that enable Norwegian manufacturers to thrive in global competition.

SFI Norman is hosting the International Workshop on Responsive Manufacturing at the Britannia Hotel in Trondheim (Norway), on the 3rd and 4th of November. The workshop addresses topics of high importance for future manufacturing systems.

Carisma RCT receives yet another invitation to deliver the opening keynote at the "Internationalisation of Companies and Inter-cultural Management 2008" conference to be held in Aalborg (Denmark) on October 27-29, 2008.

The 2008 conference intends to map out and explore novel theoretical, empirical and methodological advances in two areas: internationalization of firms, and intercultural management. The discussion is expected to cover studies in developed, developing as well as transition economies.

Dr. Marco Busi's keynote “Global Sourcing: everything you ever wanted to know, but the scientist never dared to answer” will be focussed on exploring the known and unknown of global sourcing, outsourcing, shared services, etc.with specific focus on the need to bridge the gap between industry and science.

Business International once again invites Carisma RCT to deliver a keynote speech and chair a roundtable discussion on the future of Global Manufacturing. The Manufacturing Forum will be held in Milan (Italy) on September 30, 2008. Dr. Marco Busi's keynote speech "Global Manufacturing: how to operate locally but compete globally" will present few cases of manufacturing companies from Scotland and the strategies they have adopted to maintain their competitive edge and not perish to the increasingly strong competition from developing economies.

The Youth Challenge encourages innovative ICT ideas that either involve developing new technologies, or that use existing technologies, in a way that has never been done before!

The ICT Youth Challenge competition is all about growing ideas. Ideas for exciting new businesses based on information and communication technology. For the last five years the Youth Challenge has seen over 2000 competitors aged between 11 and 20 take part in what is one of the most exciting competitions in Scotland.

The organisers of the 2008 edition of the challenge have now put together an event inspired by the popular Dragons' Den TV-show. The teams participating to this year challenge will be given some time to present their ideas to a panel of industry experts who will then provide feedback and inputs based on their individual experience.

Marco Busi and Steve Chisholm, who will be part of the industry panel, are honoured to be given the chance to be part of such an important and interesting event and to share their personal experience with such extraordinary young entrepreneurs.

The University of Liverpool awards Carisma RCT's CEO certification as a UoL on-line MSc Instructor. Selected as a potential candidates a few months ago, Dr. Busi has successfully completed the University of Liverpool's training programme.

Dr. Busi, who will now teach for the UoL MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management, said: "It's an important achievement for Carisma RCT, and another vital step that will help us establishing our brand in the international scientific arena".

The first course is planned to start in September and last until December.

Carisma receives feasibility study grant for developing a Project Management tool for Wave and Tidal Energy projects.

The project aims at assessing the feasibility to develop a tool for effective and efficient commercialisation of Renewables Devices.

If developed, this tool would support inventors and organisations who design and build wave and tidal energy devices bringing their products to market.

Carisma will work closely with the Environmental Research Institute (Thurso), who are partners in the project.

Organisers of the "Modern Information Technology in the Innovation Processes of the Industrial Enterprise" have invited Carisma RCT to be part of the Scientific Committee.

The Modern Information Technology in the Innovation Processes of the Industrial Enterprise (MITIP) will be held in November 12-14, 2008 in Prague (Czech Republic).

After 25 years in the BP Group culminating as manager of logistics operations for BP Exploration in the North Sea, he has been managing director of a number of companies including a helicopter operator, an airline, a drilling company (General Manager and Vice President for Europe), an airport operator and finally chairman of an airline.

He is deputy chairman of the Cromarty Firth Port Authority, a director of Low Cost Airports Group Ltd, a trustee of the UHI Millennium Institute Development Trust and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and of the Institute of Directors.
